The book actually consists of two separate stories.This is the second book I've read from Alistair Reynolds' Revelation Space universe. The first one was Absolution Gap, the last part of his Revelation Space saga.

Diamond Dogs
This is the first part of the book, It started on Chasm City on a planet called Yellowstone. The protagonist were Chlde, Swift, Celestine, Hirz, Dr Trinitiggnant, Forqueray an ULTRA. The story revolves around the planet Golgotha, where a mysterious artifact is located. Childe recruited the group to explore the Blood Spire as he called the mysterious alien artifac

The story really reminds me of the movie The Cube. Where a group of people find themsleves trapped inside and the only way they can get out is by solving mathematical problems.
